Inspection Services

DSL provides a comprehensive range of inspection and certification services for the drilling industry, from API 4G drilling-structure inspections and dropped object surveys through to lifting-equipment inspection, rig condition surveys and PRV testing. As an API 4F licensed company for the design and manufacture of drilling structures — and API 8C for crown blocks and hoisting systems — with inspectors trained to API RP 4G, both the company and the inspector are properly qualified for the structures we inspect.

Because our core business is designing, building, upgrading and refurbishing drilling structures, our inspection teams are backed by in-house engineering and fabrication. Findings do not just get reported: wherever practical they are resolved on site, and anything requiring engineering input — from thickness checks and structural analysis to the repair or replacement of members — is handled by the same company, to the relevant specification.

Inspections are managed and reported through our RigCentral software, with certification tracked and recertification alerts generated automatically. Multi-skilled teams can combine derrick, dropped-object and lifting-equipment inspections in a single visit, minimising downtime and bed-space requirements, and our strategically positioned facilities put inspection teams within reach of any operating region.
