As part of the Thistle Power Upgrade Project, the first of five themes within EnQuest's Thistle Late Life Extension Project, a new gas turbine generator package exhaust stack and support tower had to be installed on the Thistle platform, 218 km north of Shetland.

Design and construction safety reviews by EnQuest, Wood Group PSN, platform operations and DSL identified rope access as the safest installation method. Given the complexity of the offshore installation, the project team also required an onshore trial assembly before mobilising offshore.
